Sara Arias Block 5 A look into the life of outgoing, fun, loving East High FCS teacher Ms. O’Connor Soon-to-be mom, movement 515mentor, encouraging, funny everyday East High School teacher, loving, outgoing, caring, all these traits describe Ms. O’Connor. Where did you grow up? Ms. O’Connor grew up in Buffalo Center Iowa. It’s a really small town on the border of Iowa and Minnesota. How was your childhood? She always enjoyed hanging out with her family during holidays and having fun. What were you interested in when you were younger? Ms. O’Connor was never bored when she was young. She’s done softball, volleyball, dance, cheer leading, musicals, plays, Rock and Prevention, Big Buddies, FFCLA, FFA, and enjoyed shopping. She was very active and enjoyed every minute of it. How long have you been teaching at East? Ms. O’Connor has been teaching at East for eight years. What are you most proud about teaching at East? Ms. O’Connor is a big mentor at East High. “I am most proud of the movement 515 squad I mentor at East,” O’Connor said. What college did you attend to and why? Ms. O’Connor went to Grand View for her undergrad degree. It was the only school besides Iowa State that offered an FCS endorsement. She also liked that it was a smaller community. “Iowa State seemed overwhelming to me because it was so big compared to the high school that I went to” she said. What was your favorite thing about college? Ms. O’Connor’s favorite thing about college was the parties, freedom, and the schedule of the classes. “Some days I would only have one class and then have the rest of the day off” Ms. Oconnor said.
